Terms of service
Last updated September 18, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and TapRelease, a service operated by Music Label Solutions LLC (the label). By creating an account you accept them. They are written to be read, so they are short. Where they are silent, the usual law of your country applies.
1. What the service is
TapRelease delivers music you made to the stores under your artist name. You upload a finished recording and its cover and enter the credits. The label makes nothing for you and changes nothing you send. The label reviews every release before it is delivered to the stores, and delivers it through the label's own distribution accounts.
2. Your account and your name
You must be 18 or older. You are responsible for your account and for the artist name you choose. You may not use a name that belongs to someone else, that is already in use on the stores, or that is offensive. The label may decline a name.
3. Fees
- Uploading, entering the credits and the automatic file check are free. Nothing is charged until you send a song to the stores.
- A single is $10, paid once, per song. It includes the label's review and delivery to the stores, and the song stays up. On a single the label keeps 9% of the streaming royalties (section 4).
- Pro is $10 per month or $100 per year. It includes unlimited singles, review within a day and 100% of the streaming royalties. It renews on its own, monthly or yearly as you chose, unless you cancel first from Settings, then Manage plan; you are emailed before a yearly renewal.
- The marketing add-on is $20 per month, per song, until you stop it. It stops at the end of the month you cancel in.
You can cancel Pro at any time from Settings, then Manage plan; it stays active until the end of the month or year you paid for and is not renewed after that.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your country adds. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.
4. Royalties
On Pro you receive 100% of the streaming royalties the stores pay for your releases, as reported to the label by its distributor. On a single sent without Pro the label keeps 9% of those royalties and you receive the rest; your statement shows the amount after that cut and says so. Which applies is fixed when the song is sent and does not change afterwards. The label is paid by the fees in section 3, by that 9%, and by nothing else.
Stores report streams two to three months after they happen, and the distributor pays the label after that. We issue you a statement when a period is reported and pay out when your balance reaches $20. Balances under $20 roll forward. Payouts are made to the method you set in your account. Where a store or distributor later corrects a figure, the correction is applied to your next statement.
The label is the distributor of record for the recording. Your right under these terms is to the royalties as described here, for as long as the release is on the stores. You may ask for a takedown at any time from your account; it takes the stores one to four weeks.
5. Credit and ownership
You own the recording, the cover and the song, and you keep every right in them. Nothing in these terms gives the label any share of your masters or your publishing. You give the label permission to deliver the release to the stores, to keep it there while the release is up, and to collect the royalties so it can pay them to you. You may end that permission by asking for a takedown.
You promise that you own the recording and the cover, that nobody else has a claim on them (no samples you do not own, no cover versions, no bought beats without the paperwork), and that the credits you enter are true. If a claim arrives, the label may take the release down and will tell you. You are credited as the artist on every store page, and the writer you name is credited as the writer. You may not release the same recording through another distributor while it is on the stores through us.
6. Review
A person at the label checks every release before it goes anywhere. The label may decline a release for any reason, including a file that is broken, a cover that is too small, credits that look wrong, or a recording that appears to belong to someone else. A declined release fee is refunded (section 8). A release sent back for a fix is not declined: replace the file or the detail and send it again, at no charge.
7. Marketing add-on
The marketing add-on buys a landing page for your release and advertising run through the label's own advertising platform, with the results shown to you. Your release is also pitched to playlists the label works with and considered on the same terms as every other release. Nothing here promises streams, followers, a playlist place, or a figure. Playlist placement is never sold, and paying does not put a song on a playlist.
8. Refunds
- The Pro fee is refunded in full within 14 days of purchase if you have not sent a song to the stores.
- A single fee is refunded if the label declines that song.
- Marketing fees are not refunded once the month's advertising has started.
9. Cancelling
You can cancel from your account at any time. Pro runs to the end of the month or year you paid for. Releases already on the stores stay up and keep paying you unless you ask for a takedown.
10. What we do not promise
We do not promise that a release will earn anything, that it will be accepted by every store, or that a store will keep it up. Stores change their rules. If a store removes a release for a rule of its own, we will tell you what we know and refund any release fee for that release.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, the label's total liability to you under these terms is the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability the law does not let us limit.
12. Changes
We may change these terms. If a change matters to you, we will email you 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
